Treatment of hormonal acne?
Question by SunshineGirl: Treatment of hormonal acne?
I am 21 years old and have had consistent issues with acne since I was 12 years old. Over the years I have tried almost every acne treatment product on the market ranging from over the counter creams and washes in the beginning, to prescription acne creams and medications in the more recent years. So far nothing I have tried has made any difference. My acne has improved slightly with age and that’s about it. I have come to the conclusion along with my doctor that my acne is hormonally related and this is why drying creams such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide have not helped me at all. I am interested to know what medications and products others have used to combat hormonal acne and what has worked the best. I am sick and tired of living with bad skin especially now that I am entering my 20′s and I am looking for something that will be successful in treating my acne.
* I have also tried Proactive and found that it did absolutely nothing to help my skin.
** I have also been on the pill since I was 17 and tried around 10 different brands including Tricyclen and Diane 35.
*** I have also tried a course of oral antibiotics specifically for the treatment of acne.

I’m 60 years old and battled acne most of my life. Used Proactive for years. Switched to Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure daily exfoliating gel cleanser and there cream scrub. Morning and night for 2 minutes. You can get it at WalMart and drug stores. Here’s what I’ve learned…
1. Eat a healthy diet…vegetables and fruit are a must.
2. Stay away from too much sugar, high fructose corn syrup, over spicy foods, and grease. No soda Pop! No junk food!
3. Do not sleep on you arm or hand…you do not want your face touching you skin while you sleep.
4. Do not touch your face during the day.
5. If you have oily skin, carry some face wipes with you.
6. Hair conditioner use to make me break out big time. I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo and hair and body Moisturizer now. Just a little of that hair moisturizer and not every day. Works for me.
7. Of course make sure your pillow cases are changed as often as necessary.
8. Our daughter has told us that makeup can cause a problem too.
If you have a break out, figure out what caused it, like, what you ate over the previous 24 hours.
What about the pill? Could that be the problem…or part of it? Do some research.
Nerves play a roll too. Getting upset or too much stress is not good. Make sure you get the sleep you need and drink enough good water.
The key is knowing yourself. Keep a diary of all you eat.
So much to keep track of. Comes natural after a while. Vitamins can be a problem too…too many or too little…depending on your diet.
Toxins put into our body can came out our skin.
Well, hope something I said helps.
