I’m 18, and lately I’ve been finding that around my period, I’ve been breaking out. Although I plan to go to the doctor to see if there are some acne treatment creams that they’d recommend, I heard that birth control pills can help to reduce acne, since they lower hormonal levels, so I had a few questions:
1. From your experience, is this true?
2. What brand do you recommend?
3. How much are pills, and where can I buy them?
4. Anything else you think I should know about birth control?

I’m a little unwilling to discuss these things with my parents, especially since I live with my dad, since I think that he’d assume that I was having sex with my bf if I asked about birth control, which I’m not, and I’d rather not startle him. Thanks for all of your help!

I am considering taking birth control pills for for birth control and acne treatment. I know that once i stop taking them i can regain fertility, but what would happen to my skin? Would I have a surge of acne back?
